HOW TO REMOVE PET ODOR FROM CARPET/UPHOLSTERY
1. Clean the Area Thoroughly
- Blot, Donโt Rub: If the odor is from a recent accident, blot the area with a clean cloth to absorb as much as possible. Avoid rubbing to prevent spreading.
- Use a Carpet Cleaner: If the stain has set, use a carpet-cleaning solution specifically designed for pet stains.
2. Apply Baking Soda
- Sprinkle Baking Soda: Liberally sprinkle baking soda over the area. Baking soda neutralizes odors by absorbing them.
- Let It Sit Overnight: Allow the baking soda to sit for several hours or overnight for maximum absorption.
- Vacuum: Thoroughly vacuum the area to remove the baking soda.
3. Use an Enzymatic Cleaner
- Why Enzymatic Cleaners?: These products break down the proteins in pet urine that cause odors.
- Apply to the Stain: Follow the instructions on the cleaner, usually applying it generously to the area.
- Allow Time to Work: Let the cleaner sit for 15โ30 minutes before blotting.
4. Steam Clean (If Necessary)
- Use a steam cleaner with a pet-specific solution to deep-clean the carpet and eliminate any lingering odor.
